Skittles poem

Squashed skittles speckle the floor
Dancing like a dot-to-dot mixtape
I count 27 by my feet
There were 29 but the nurse swept one away
And the other one was eaten
I never knew skittles were cannibalistic
This is important new life knowledge
I’m glad I have my slippers on
Lights are humming quietly
Simon says they’re singing Stand by Me
I remain unconvinced
Soon I will be a speckle too
Lighting up the dancefloor
